Goa to have State Staff Selection Commission soon: CM Sawant
Panaji, Jul 15 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed state assembly on Monday that soon the state would have a Staff Selection Commission to ensure more transparency in filling vacant posts in the state.
Speaking during Question Hour, the Chief Minister said previous government under the leadership of late Manohar Parrikar had started process of having a commission but could not complete it. However, his government would complete it, he added.
The Chief Minister said instructions had been issued that the written examinations should be conducted by Goa University or Goa Education Development Corporation or any authority competent to conduct the examinations.
Stating that there were various qualified persons applying for lower level of vacancies, Dr Sawant said he wished that competent persons were in the administration.
'There must be competent persons in departments to run administration efficiently. I assure that process of selection of candidates will be transparent. I have issued instructions to the departments to follow transparent process of selection of candidates,' he said.
'I know about a person who had passed engineering degree but had applied for the post of peon in government department. He would naturally pass the written exam, but that is not fair.. If skill test is necessary to be held, then the respective department should hold it. We want competitive persons to come in our Administration,” the Chief Minister said, though admitting that it was not possible to provide jobs to everyone.
Dr Sawant said to know exact number of unemployed youths in the state, register of employment exchanged to be connected to private companies as well.
