Gujarat: Bank robbed

Anand/UNI: A private sector bank in Anand town of Central Gujarat was robbed on Sunday and cash worth Rs 70-75 lakh was taken away by the robbers, police said.

City's police station R R Bobde said that a branch of Bandhan bank, which even operates on Sunday's, situated on the 100 ft ring road in the town was robbed. An FIR has been lodged and the exact amount of cash robbed is yet to be determined. However as per the initial estimates it was around Rs 70 to 75 lakhs.

Borders of the district have been sealed and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.

Meanwhile a bank employee said that three people, brandishing daggers and fire arms, entered the bank and overpowered the bank guard and all the employees present. They even injured four employees when they tried to resist. The robber then fled with the booty and some gold jewelry mortgaged by customers in the bank. The also reportedly took away the CCTV DVR with them.
