Gujarat: Income Tax officer held in graft case

Rajkot, Jul 9 (UNI) The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat police on Tuesday arrested a senior Income Tax officer from his office here, while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a man for not leveling penalty on a scrutiny notice for assessment year 2017-18.

The accused Narshibhai P Solanki (53) was an IT officer grade 2 at the Income Tax office in Race course road of the city, they said.

According to Assistant Director of the ACB D P Chudasama, the accused sought the bribe from a man who received a scrutiny notice of Rs 12 lakh.

Based on the secret complaint,Mr Solanki was caught red-handed, when he told the complainant to put the money in his office table drawer, the ACB Director added.
