Jind, Haryana, Feb 15 (IBNS) : BJP President Amit Shah will  lead  a  mega-rally in Haryana's Jind on Thursday to kickoff campaign for next year's state Assembly elections  as about  one lakh youth bikers are expected to participate in the ‘Yuva Hunkar’ programme, said to have been designed to consolidate BJP's hold on the state's political nerve centre, media reports said.

According to reports, the bike rally has already started and  Shah himself will ride a motorbike to the venue of his rally after arriving in a nearby place in a helicopter.

On Wednesday, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar himself rode a bike in Jind to take stock of the preparations made for the rally.

Tight security has been made in view of the rally in Jind, while police and other security agencies have been put on alert.

According to reports, Khattar has persuaded leaders of  All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, reprsesenting Haryana's powerful Jat community,  to call off an agitation after they were assured that their demands will be taken care of. However,  opposition parties- the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Congress have said they will hold protests.

Jats had threatened to disrupt the rally to press for their demands like reservation in jobs.

A temporary helipad has been prepared, where Amit Shah will land in a helicopter from Delhi and  Khattar from Chandigarh. They will then ride bikes to the venue of the rally about 600 metres away.
