Haryana DGP asks voters to cast vote without fear

| @indiablooms | Oct 20, 2019, at 07:28 pm

Chandigarh, Oct 20 (UNI) Haryana Director General of Police Manoj Yadava appealed to the people to enthusiastically participate in the festival of democracy by reaching their respective polling stations in large numbers and cast vote without any fear on October 21.

He assured that Haryana Police has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure a fair, peaceful and incident-free conduct of Vidhan Sabha polls in the state.

Detailing about the security measures put in place to hold election for 90 seats, the DGP said that security personnel would be ready to tackle any adverse situation and reach the spot within 10 minutes, after getting any such information.

The Central Armed Police Forces, allocated by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, had been deployed at critical and vulnerable polling stations, he added.

He also warned that stern action would be taken against the elements, who try to disrupt the polling process by taking law in their own hands. At the same time, Police has prepared contingency plans to tackle any eventuality, across the state.

He said that all Range ADGPs/IGPs, Commissioners of Police and District Superintendents of Police will commence patrolling from 0600 hrs onwards on polling day and stay in the field till polling is completed in the evening, in their respective jurisdiction.

The inter-state borders had been completely sealed to prevent cross border movement of anti-social elements and liquor, which can be used for booth capturing and violence on polling day.

All senior police officers and officers of the Excise Department engaged in poll duty have been instructed to ensure conduct of special checking over the liquor vends, as they tend to keep small back windows open, even after closing hours.

He also exhorted the police and security personnel to perform their duty with utmost sincerity and dedication and take strict legal action against anti-social elements that try to execute any kind of unpleasant event on the day of polling.

Around 1.82 crore voters are going to exercise their franchise in the election.
