Himachal Pradesh: Fire at Holi-Bajoli hydro project colony in Chamba claims life

Shimla, Oct 19 (UNI) A major fire broke out at Holi Bajoli hydropower project colony in Adit-two colony of Chamba district, about 350 km from here, burning a person alive and reducing property worth crores of rupees, to ashes.

Police Chief of Chamba district, Monika told UNI that the blaze, which broke out at around 0000 hrs on Friday night, possibly due to a short circuit, reduced to ash 20 rooms in the venue.


Fire tenders and police rushed to rescue the people. Most of the occupants of the colony, which housed families of project employees, were evacuated.

 

However, Sunil Kumar (33), resident of Saloni, could not be evacuated and he was burnt alive in the hospital.


The body was sent for post-mortem, while police was estimating the loss to the property caused by the accident, Ms Monika added.
