India calls off talks with Pakistan
New Delhi, Sept 21 (IBNS): India on Friday called off the talks between External Affairs Minister and Pakistani Foreign Minister, officials said.
The meeting was scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York this month.
Speaking at a press conference, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said: "In view of the changed situation, there would be no meeting between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan."
The latest announcement came just hours after three Special Police Officers (SPOs) were killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian area on Friday morning, media reports said.
The terrorists had kidnapped four cops in total. Out of four, one was rescued by the villagers, a Home Ministry official told NDTV.
The MEA earlier stated that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will hold a meeting with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the sidelines of the UNGA.
More details are awaited.
