India remembers martyrs of 2019 Pulwama terror attack

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several politicians, Bollywood actors and people from different walks of life on Sunday remembered the martyrs of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and paid tributes to their valour and sacrifice.

PM Modi, while addressing an inauguration ceremony in Tamil Nadu's Chennai, paid homage to the brave martyrs.

"Two years ago, the Pulwama attack happened on this day. We pay homage to all the martyrs we lost in that attack. We are proud of our security forces. Their bravery will continue to inspire generations," he said.

Taking to Twitter, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was one of the first to pay his tribute to the martyrs.

In a tweet, Singh said: "I pay homage to those brave @crpfindia personnel who sacrificed their lives in 2019 Pulwama terror attack. India will never forget their service to the nation and their supreme sacrifice. We continue to stand with their families, who had to suffer due to this attack."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also remembered the brave soldiers killed in Pulwama."Tribute to the brave soldiers, who died in the Pulwama terror attack. A tribute to their families as the country owes you," Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in his tribute, said that the sacrifice of the soldiers will always inspire the nation in fight against terrorism.

"Tribute to the immortal sacrifices of Pulwama attack who sacrificed their lives for our safe future. Their immortal sacrifice will always inspire us to fight against terrorism," Chief Minister Adityanath tweeted.


In a tweet, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir wrote: "India is not built by bricks & cement! It is the blood of our bravest which holds our country together! Never Forget! #PulwamaAttack."

Former cricketer Virender Sehwag how he has been contributing to help the families of the martyrs.

Jammu Kashmir Workers Party President Mir Junaid wrote: "14 February is something that has and should be enough to shake the conscience of not only Indians, but the entire global spectrum to the extent that terror and its ‘nurturers and romanticisers’ are called out for times to come.Lest we forget #PulwamaAttack."

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also joined the nation in remembering the brave martyrs through a tweet. He also shared the images of all the personnel who died in the suicide bombing attack.

"Remembering our bravehearts of #PulwamaAttack, we will always remain indebted for your supreme sacrifice Folded hands," he wrote.

Actor Kartik Aaryan also took to social media with a post writing: "#PulwamaAttack के शहीदों को नमनFolded hands On this day, 2 years back 40 soldiers sacrificed their lives for our nation in Pulwama attack. Prayers for the brave souls and their families. We'll always be in debt of yours."

At least 40 Indian paramilitary personnel were martyred as Pakistan-based militant organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) carried out an attack in Kashmir's Pulwama on Feb 14, 2019.

Within 24 hours, India had retaliated by bombing a terrorist camp at Balakot in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
