India reports biggest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases with over 75,000 infections

New Delhi/IBNS: India, the worst Covid-19-affected Asian country, on Thursday reported the biggest single-day spike in Novel Coronavirus cases with over 75,000 infections in the last 24 hours.

With fresh 75,760 new cases, India's Covid tally has touched 33.1 lakh.

Adding 1,023 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Covid toll has touched 60,472.

25,23,771 Covid patients have so far recovered in the country since late January when the first case was reported in the vast country with a poor health infrastructure.

The recovery rate now stands at 76.24%.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday extended the anti-Covid-19 lockdown in her state till Sept 20 with the announcement of three days of complete lockdown in the coming month.

The eastern state is under complete lockdown on Thursday.
