Mumbai/IBNS: As the Novel Coronavirus engulfed the entire world, the death toll from the virus in India rose to three on Tuesday as a 64-year old man passed away at Mumbai's Kasturba Hospital.

The deceased, who had returned from Dubai, was first admitted to Hinduja Hospital and later shifted to an isolation facility at Kasturba Hospital.

The man's wife and son have also tested COVID-19 positive.

So far, 126 people including 13 cured and three deaths have been infected by the deadly Coronavirus.

The western state of Maharashtra recorded the maximum number of positive cases (36) followed by Kerala (22).

While the entire northern, western and southern part of the country have been affected by the deadly virus, Odisha is the only eastern state to report a positive case.

Earlier a 69-year old woman had died of Coronavirus, declared as 'pandemic' by the World Health Organisation (WHO), in Delhi.

Prior to the death of the woman in Delhi, a 76-year old man from Karnataka's Kalburgi had died.

Maharashtra govt to stamp those under home quarantine

In a step taken to fight the COVID19 outbreak in the state, Maharashtra government on Monday said those people who are undergoing home quarantine for suspected exposure to the novel Coronavirus will be stamped on the left hand, media reports said.

The decision was reportedly taken during a meeting attended by Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.

Maharashtra witnessed a major jump in the number of people being infected by the virus.

Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray said universities in the Indian state have decided to postpone exams till Mar 31.

"After risk assessments, the Higher & Technical Ministry has decided to postpone all university exams, in its jurisdiction, to a date later than 31st March, 2020 All educational institutes must therefore observe a complete temporary closure till further notice," he tweeted.
