India, the most corrupt country in Asia: Transparency International

| @indiablooms | Sep 01, 2017, at 06:12 pm
New Delhi, Sep 1 (IBNS): India has been named the most corrupt country in Asia by international watchdog Transparency International.

Listing the five most corrupt countries in the continent, the Berlin based organisation has said that the bribery rate in India stands at 69 percent.

India is closely followed by Vietnam at 65 percent bribery rate.

The third, fourth and fifth spot is occupied by Thailand, Pakistan and Myanmar.

They have a corruption rate of 41 percent and 40 percent each, respectively.

The announcement is expected to cause a major embarrassment to the Narendra Modi led-BJP government, whose main mantra has been 'a clean and corruption free India'.
