Indian Army chief Manoj Pande receives Guard of Honour in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Indian Army chief General Manoj Pande received a Guard of Honour at a convention centre of Bangladesh Armed Forces here on Monday.

Pande is on a three-day visit to Bangladesh at present.

Indian Army tweeted: " General Manoj Pande #COAS received an impressive Guard of Honour at #Senakunja #Bangladesh. He also planted a tree to commemorate the friendship between the two Armies."

The Bangladesh Army also shared images of the moment on its Twitter handle.

The army chiefs of Bangladesh and India, General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed and General Manoj Pandey, met on Monday during the latter's first visit abroad after taking charge.

Gen Pande said his respect for Bangladesh and the basis for the existing "historical and professional relationship" between the two armies were revealed by his visit.

Before reaching the army headquarters, Gen Pande paid tribute to the martyrs of Bangladesh's liberation war by placing wreaths at Shikha Anirban.

On Tuesday, Gen Pande will pay a courtesy call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Indian delegation will return home on July 21. Gen Pandey arrived in Bangladesh on July 17.
