Srinagar/IBNS: As a run-up to commemorating the Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Kargil Vijay Diwas Victory Flame arrived at Zorawar Garrison, Gujjarpatti in Kashmir amidst traditional fanfare.

The Victory Flame was flagged off from Udhampur-based HQ Northern Command on June 17 and arrived at Zorawar Garrison, Gujjarpatti on Wednesday.

The event witnessed wreath-laying by Indian Army officials, civil administration officials, Ex-Servicemen including Kargil War veterans and Veer Naris to pay homage to the brave soldiers killed in action during the Kargil War.

This year's Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations are unique in two ways as the Kargil Vijay Diwas coincided with the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations'.

The Kargil war veterans and Veer Naris present on the solemn occasion were felicitated and their immense contribution to the service of the motherland was remembered.

The cornerstone of the event was that it provided everyone present, especially the younger generation with an opportunity to cherish the historically significant and momentous victory achieved by the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistan.

A large number of people from all walks of life across the Lolab valley witnessed the event with patriotic fervour.
