Indian PM Narendra Modi launches Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana

Ranchi, Sept 23 (IBNS): With a promise to provide health care to every person in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the 'Ayushman Bharat -Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)' in Ranchi.

The scheme is targeting 500 million beneficiaries.

Under this scheme, over 10 crore families will be provided health assurance worth Rs. 5 lakh each, every year.

Speaking at the event, the PM said: "The scheme is going to cover the treatment of more than 1,300 illnesses which include cancer, heart disease, kidney and liver disease, diabetes."

He said serious diseases will be treated both in private and government hospitals under this scheme.

He said: "More than 13,000 hospitals have been associated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme."

He said his government is working hard to develop India's healthcare sector.

Modi said: "Call this number 14555 to know more about the scheme."
