Indian smuggler killed during shootout with BGB at Haluaghat border in Bangladesh

Dhaka/UNI: An Indian smuggler has been killed in a shootout with the BGB at the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh.

A BGB member was also injured in the incident. The incident took place at midnight on Monday (December 28) in Suryapur Dumlikura area of the upazila.

BGB Gobrakura camp commander Umar Farooq confirmed the matter.

He said a patrol team of Suryapur BOP BGB chased the smugglers late on Monday night. At this time both sides fired. A BGB member was injured and an Indian smuggler was killed. However, his name is not yet known.

Haluaghat Police Station OC Mahmudul Hasan said the BGB chased the Indian smugglers when they entered Bangladesh on Monday night. They are in cahoots with the BGB. An Indian smuggler was killed.

However, the name and address of the deceased have not been known yet. He also said that police were working at the spot.
