Indonesian President Widodo on two-day state visit to India

New Delhi, Dec 12 (IBNS): President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, was welcomed by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with full ceremonial honours, in New Delhi on Monday.

He arrived on Sunday and was received at the Air Force Station, Palam, New Delhi by the central Minister of State  for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Independent Charge), Anil Madhav Dave.

President Joko Widodois is on a state visit to India from Dec 12-13 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This will be the first visit of President Joko Widodo to India after assuming power in October 2014.

President Jokowi is accompanied by his spouse, Iriana Widodo, several cabinet ministers, senior officials and a 22-member very high level business delegation from Indonesia.

Indonesia is the largest country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and is India’s largest trade partner in Asean. Hence business and trade is expected to take the lead in the meeting between President Widodo and Prime Minister Modi, according to media reports
