Innocent civilians are being caught in violence in Kashmir : Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Dec 20 (IBNS) : Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday expressed grief  over the killing of a young woman in South Kashmir during an encounter and said innocent civilians are being caught in violence.

"Anguished over the killing of a young girl during a gunfight in Batmurran village of Shopian district. It’s unfortunate that a web of violence has been cast in which the local & innocent civilians of the state have been caught," Mehbooba tweeted.

Two militants and a woman, Rubeena Jan, were killed in a fierce gun fight and post enounter clashes with local people on Tuesday. She was the third civilian . This was the third civilian killed in firing by security forces in the valley in the past nine days.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir Valley is observing a shutdown against the killing of civilians.

The shutdown call has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Authorities have imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city and Shopian district while internet service is off in the twin n districts of South Kashmir including Pulwama and Shopian.
