Is Champai Soren, who quit for Hemant Soren to return as Jharkhand CM, upset?

| @indiablooms | Jul 04, 2024, at 06:01 pm

Ranchi/IBNS: JMM veteran leader Champai Soren on Wednesday resigned as the Chief Minister paving way for party chief Hemant Soren to make a comeback in the post.

Hemant Soren will be back as the Chief Minister days after he walked out of the jail getting a bail in the land scam case.

However, reports claim Champai Soren, who assumed the post after Hemant quit ahead of his arrest, is not happy with the new situation.

Champai Soren is "upset" and reportedly felt "insulted" to quit for Hemant Soren.

If reports are to be believed, the veteran leader might be given the post of JMM executive president.

After handing over his resignation to Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Wednesday evening, Champai Soren said in Hindi, "When the leadership had changed, I was given responsibility. You know the sequence of events.

"After Hemant Soren came back, we (the coalition) picked him as our leader and I resigned. I am following the decision taken by the coalition."

Asked when he would take the oath, Hemant Soren, who was standing next to Champai Soren, said more details would be given later.

Jharkhand is ruled by a coalition of the JMM, Congress, RJD and the CPI (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation.

The Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Hemant Soren on June 28 after the court noted that there was reason to believe he was "not guilty of the offence".
