Israel to support India to fight terrorism

New Delhi, Nov 15 (IBNS): Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, who is in India on a six-day visit, met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday for delegation level talks at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

President Reuven "Ruvi" Rivlin, the first Israeli head of state to visit India after a gap of nearly 20 years, extended his support to India in countering terrorism, media reported.

Last year, when President Pranab Mukherjee visited Israel, it was the first ever visit to the nation by an Indian president.

Talking at the joint press conference, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "We recognise terrorism is a global challenge, knows no boundaries and has extensive links with other forms of organised crime. Regrettably, one of the countries of its origin and spread is in India's neighbourhood."

He said that the international community must act with "resolve and determination" against terror networks and states that harbour them.

"We agreed to intensify our cooperation to combat the forces of extremism and radicalisation that threaten all peace loving nations," said Modi.
