Jammu: Around 1,200 students are participating in a five-day long 'Sangam' Youth Festival at picturesque Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Organised by the Indian Army Rashtriya Rifles in collaboration with Bhaderwah University Campus , the fest sees the participation of both boys and girls from 34 colleges and university campuses from the entire Jammu region.

The General-Officer-Commanding, White Knight Corps, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh inaugurated the event while Maj Gen Ajay Kumar, GOC, CIF (D) and a number of officers from Indian Army, civil administration, police, and educationists among others were present during inaugural ceremony on Monday, reports UNI.

The youth festival provides a suitable platform for the youth to showcase their talent across domains of sports, culture and fine arts with an aim of spreading the message of peace and communal harmony.

The participants will also get an opportunity to try their hands at various adventure activities like Paragliding, River Rafting, Rock Climbing, Rappling and Zip Lining.

A total of 40 events (outdoor and indoor activities) have been planned during this five-day festival.

The traditional folk dance and other cultural programs performed by students mesmerised the audience.

An attractive ‘Chho Dance’ was performed by Adivasi soldiers from the army.
