Jammu and Kashmir: Advisor Farooq Khan reviews Social Welfare Deptt's functioning

Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan Thursday reviewed the overall functioning of Social Welfare department in a meeting here at civil secretariat in Jammu.

He urged upon the officers to weed out the cases which had expired or become ineligible for pension due to one reason or other and replace them with the new deserving applicants.

The advisor exhorted upon them not to leave any backlog cases for old age, widow or specially-able persons.

He asked them to fix a quarterly cycle of three months to upload all the cases received and found eligible during this period so that no long pending cases gets accumulated.

Advisor Khan also directed the concerned to work in a mission mode for meeting the targets of scholarships in each category.

He asked the officers to simplify the process and make it convenient for the aspiring students to avail the benefits easily.

The advisor asked the directors to carry out administrative inspections and ensure that things for the smooth conduct of official business are in place everywhere. He asked the officers to provide the prosthetic medical aids to the deserving.

He advised them to provide these to students and women on priority. Regarding the Ladli Beti and Marriage Assistance schemes, Advisor Khan said that these schemes aim at empowering the women and should therefore be implemented taking their needs and aspirations into consideration.
