Jammu and Kashmir: CRPF jawan dies by suicide in Pulwama

Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Jammu Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.

They said that in the intervening night of August 11/12 around 1.55 am gunshots were heard near SAIL Chersoo in Awantipora and a CRPF jawan was found dead in a pool of blood.

"After assessing everything a Jawan of 112 BN CRPF namely Ct/Sepoy Ajay Kumar was found dead in the pool of blood," they said.

Medico-legal formalities were completed and inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC have been initiated, they said.

"However apparent cause of death is suicide," they added.

The deceased constable Ajay Kumar son of Rajinder Roy and a resident of Village Dhegadih Jharkhand was posted with F 112/BN CRPF.
