Jammu and Kashmir: DIC Shopian organises Mehfil-e-Mushaira, special cultural programme
Srinagar: District Information Centre Shopian Sunday organised a day-long Mehfil-e-Mushaira and special cultural programme in collaboration with Azad Cultural Society Thairen Kandi Keller here at Kathahallan in Shopian.
On the occasion, District Information Officer Shopian Showkat Ahmad Khan, who was the chief guest, lauded the poets, poetess and writers for their contribution towards the promotion of Kashmiri culture and literature.
He said that their contribution not only promotes Kashmiri culture but also local tradition and customs.
Khan said, “We are trying our best to reach to young and talented youth and involve them to know and adopt cultural heritage which is a preserved gift from our ancestors.”
The DIO said that such functions should be held in future as well as they provide a platform to literary and creative activities and help in flourishing the cultural heritage.
The programme was presided over by Mehrajuddin Tanha, Abdul Aziz Lone, Faqeer Gulsoab and president of Azad Cultural Society Thairen Kandi Keller Shopian. The programme was conducted by Muhammad Amin Nishat.
A total of 20 poets participated in the Mushaira including Bashir Ahmad Parwana, Muhammad Amin Nishat, Ghulam Ahmad Shaukeen, Abdul Khaliq Khaksaar, Ghulam Hassan, Wasif Nazir, Ahmad Dildar, Saqib Faheem and others.
Earlier, a special cultural programme was also presented by Abdul Rashid Khan and his party. On the occasion Ableena Jan, Tafazul Bashir and others recited Naats.
Later, Bashir Ahmad Parwana, the president of Azad Cultural Society hailed the active support of the District Information Centre Shopian for its support in organising such events.
