Jammu and Kashmir: Drug peddler arrested in Pulwama

Srinagar/UNI:  Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police spokesman said this evening.

He said a check point was established by police at Reshipora Bund Awantipora in Pulwama during which one person identified as Umar Qadir Dar, a resident of Natipora Chanapora in Srinagar was intercepted. During the his search police recovered 4kg of charas from him.

Dar has been arrested and lodged in police station Awantipora, he said adding a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.

"Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace," the spokesperson added.
