Jammu and Kashmir: GDC Baramulla organizes webinar on drug abuse
Srinagar: An International Webinar on “Understanding Youth and the Problem of Drug Abuse: Better Knowledge for Better Care” was organised by Department of Social Work, Government Degree College, Baramulla.
The webinar was aimed at raising awareness about the social issue of drug abuse, recognizing it as a concern for our society.
At the onset, Prof. Abdul Majid Chalkoo inaugurated the webinar and welcomed the resource persons and participants.
During the webinar session, the participant deliberated upon wide range of social, biological, psychological aspects of drug abuse and terminologies used for the persons who are victims of the abuse.
To combat the issue of drug abuse, experts suggested strategic interventions including developing collaborative and cooperative linkages between the various disciplines of health and social sciences.
The session was followed by a vibrant question-answer session where various concerns of youth and drug abuse issues including the associated stressors, stigma, and rehabilitation and treatment options were discussed.
