Jammu and Kashmir Islamic State militant behind attack on CRPF patrol party identified
Srinagar/UNI: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have identified a militant of “Jammu and Kashmir Islamic State” (JKIS) responsible for the attack on a CRPF patrol party in which a jawan and a minor boy were killed at Bijbehara in Anantnag, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
Meanwhile, former chief Minister Dr Omar Abdullah and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) youth leader Er Aijaz Hussain have condemned the attack.
The Spokesman said at 1215 hrs on Friday, militants fired upon a CRPF party at Bijbehara in Anantnag. A CRPF soldier and a minor boy identified as Nehan Yawar, son of Mohammad Yaseen Bhat resident of Machwa Yaripora, Kulgam were killed.
He said Police registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime.
Police spokesman later in a tweet said that “ police has identified #killer of minor boy and CRPF personnel. Zahid Daas , a #terrorist of JKIS outfit, is found to be involved in today's attack at #Bijbehara. Police has registered FIR against him by name”.
This is perhaps for the first time police has directly named a militant in the FIR hours after the attack.
In a tweet, the National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah said, “An innocent six-year-old boy is the latest victim of the violence in Kashmir. His death in a dastardly grenade attack by militants is tragic & condemned without reservation. May Allah grant him Jannat & his family strength at this difficult time”.

This beast took two innocent lives today in #Bijbehara #Encounter. All those supporting terrorism in #Kashmir are digging graves for themselves. Not late to understand & repent on the mistakes otherwise it will inhale generations to come”.
