New Delhi, Jun 30 (IBNS): A landslide near Katra on way to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir left one dead and six others injured, according to media reports on Friday.

Heavy rains and landslides on Friday morning have forced the suspension of the annual Amarnath Yatra, which began on Thursday, reports said.

An official of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) told the media that the journey has been temporary suspended and urged devotees to check the status of the yatra on the helpline, before setting off.

Following the commencement of the yearly pilgrimage, over 6000 devotees have already paid their visit to the shrine.
