Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army conducted joint operations and arrested two “hybrid terrorists” in Nowgam and Kulgam regions and recovered arms and ammunition from them on Sunday.

On a specific input, Srinagar Police & Army's 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) arrested a “hybrid terrorist” identified as Sheikh Sahid Gulzar of Muchhwa, Badgam from Nowgam area of central Kashmir's Srinagar district.

Incriminating material including pistol and live ammunition was recovered from him, police said.

Another “hybrid terrorist” of proscribed “terror outfit” Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was nabbed in Kulgam in south Kashmir.

One pistol, 1 pistol magazine, 51 rounds of 9mm and 2 hand grenades were also recovered from his possession, police said.

They said on a specific information, Kulgam Police along with 34 RR have arrested one “hybrid terrorist” of “proscribed terrorist” outfit LeT identified as Yamin Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Gadihama in south Kashmir.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested “hybrid terrorist” was in contact with Pakistan based “terrorists” as well as “local terrorists” of proscribed outfit LeT and was tasked to execute “terror incident”.

He was also involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to the “terrorists” including transportation of arms and ammunition and explosive material in district Kulgam.

It is pertinent to mention that his arrest is an achievement for Police, as the said “terrorist” was well aware about the topography of the district and it was easy for him to choose soft targets, they said.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of laws have been registered at Police Station Kulgam and Nowgam.

More arrests and recoveries are expected in the instant case.
