Jharkhand polls: 56.02 pct turnout recorded as voting ends in five seats

Ranchi/UNI: An average voter turnout of 56.02 percent has been recorded as voting came to an end in five seats, which are part of the 15 seats, in the fourth phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections on Monday.

Among the constituencies, Chandankiyari has so far registered a maximum voter turnout of 69.64 per cent while Dhanbad had witnessed a minimum turnout at 43.69 per cent.

Constituency wise the polling percentage is as following: Madhupur 58.11 percent, Deoghar (SC) 53.76 percent, Bagodar 62.82 percent, Jamua (SC) 55.63 percent, Gandey 62.69 percent, Giridih 60.43 percent, Dumri 61.42 percent, Bokaro 44.50 percent, Chandankiyari (SC) 69.64 percent, Sindri 60.83 percent, Nirsa 59.67 percent, Dhanbad 43.69 percent, Jharia 47.12 percent, Tundi 62.91 percent and Baghmara 55.59 percent.

Polling on 5 out of these 10 seats, including Bagodar, Jamua, Giridih, Dumri and Tundi, came to an end at 1500hrs while it will continue in the remaining 10 seats till 1700hrs.

The final phase of voting will take place on Dec 20.

The results will be declared on Dec 23.

The election assumes significance as it is the first result that will declared since the BJP-led government passed the new citizenship law in the country.

Several parts of the nation are witnessing massive protests against the law.
