Jihadis kill rhino for collecting fund in Assam, two poachers held with arms-ammu

Guwahati, June 28 (IBNS): In an attempt to collect fund, Jihadis allegedly killed one horned rhinoceros in Assam, which came to light after security forces arrested two poachers with huge cache of arms and ammunition from Assam’s Darrang district.

Following a tip-off, Darrang police launched operation at Nalbari village near Orang National Park and arrested two poachers.

The arrested poachers were identified as Majibur Rahman and Zakir Hussain.

Police recovered one AK-56 rifle, a 303 rifle, 66 rounds live ammunition, other items in possession from them.

A top police official said that, the arrested poacher duo revealed that, jihadi organization had engaged poachers to kill rhino for collecting fund.

“It is a very concerning issue as jihadi organization is involved in rhino poaching for collecting fund,” the police official said.
