J&K govt failed to ensure compensation for human shield victim, says former CM
Srinagar, Feb 2 (IBNS): A day after Jammu and the Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti claimed that State Human Rights Commission has no jurisdiction over Army, former Chief Minister and the leader of Opposition Omar Abdullah blamed the PDP-led Government for making “tall claims on taking FIR against army to logical conclusion” when it had failed to compensate human shield victim Farooq Dar.
Omar Abdullah was speaking at Grants for general administration and Home department in the Legislative Assembly.
"Farooq Ahmad of Beerwah was a voter but was tied to Amry jeep because he was seen in the area where youth were pelting forces with stones. Army major was felicitated but your voter was denied compensation," Abdullah told Mehbooba Mufti in the House.
He said it would have been better for Farooq to be a stone pelter and would have, at least, been owned by separatist groups. "But he is caught in the middle now," Abdullah said.
He said the state government has failed to give justice to human shield victim but was making tall claims of taking FIR against Army to a logical end.
"Where from you got this confidence that you will take FIR (against army) to a logical end when you couldn't provide justice to human shield victim," he asked.
