JK: LCMA celebrates World Wetlands Day

Srinagar/IBNS: The Watershed Management Division, Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA) on Thursday celebrated World Wetland Day based on the theme “wetlands action for people and nature”. 

To celebrate this day, the division organised a drawing competition and slogan writing in which about 25 children from different schools participated.

The event was organised to raise awareness among people about the importance of wetlands.

Meanwhile, a special demolition drive was launched by the Lake Conservation & Management Authority through its Enforcement Wing in the areas of Saidakadal Ashaibagh and Lone Mohalla Nowpora area.

The demolition drive was conducted in presence of Duty Magistrate in collaboration with SHO Police Station Nigeen and the Police Deployment from PCR Srinagar.

During the demolition drive, one single storey structure was demolished and also some truck loads of illegally dumped earth filling was removed with the help of departmental JCB and trucks.
