Jorhat MLA Hitendranath Goswami to be the next assembly speaker: Assam cabinet approves

Guwahati, Jan 28 (IBNS) : The legislator of Jorhat assembly constituency Hitendranath Goswami to be the next speaker of Assam assembly and the decision was approved by the state government cabinet.

Sarbananda Sonowal led Assam government had approved the next assembly speaker name during a cabinet meeting held in Guwahati on Saturday evening.

The Jorhat MLA name was included in the panel for next speaker of the Assam assembly following Ranjit Das resigned from the post after he selected as the state BJP unit president.

The state cabinet also approved that, the state government employees to get salaries as per 7th State Pay Commission recommendations from April 1 next.

On the other hand, Assam cabinet decided to give housing loan at 5% interest for third and fourth grade employees of the state government.

“The Assam government will sign a MoU with SBI within short period,” an Assam minister said.

The cabinet also decided that, the Assam governor will take charge the Chancellor post of the state universities which are presently taking by the Chief Minister.

The cabinet approved several development issues of the state and the next state budget of 2017-18 which to be tabled in the assembly on Feb 7.
