Kangana dares Uddhav Thackeray, says will see his arrogance crumble after BMC gashes her Mumbai office before court stay

| @indiablooms | Sep 09, 2020, at 11:12 pm

Mumbai: Mumbai witnessed yet another day of high voltage political action as Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials demolished an alleged illegal portion of movie star Kangana Ranaut's office at Pali Hill, only to be restrained by the court, even as the firebrand actress swore to carry on her tirade against "movie mafia" and said she would wait to see the day when the "arrogance" of CM Uddhav Thackeray was punctured.

Kangana has apparently registered a moral victory in her battle against Uddhav Thackeray as causing much embarrassment for the Shiv Sena-led civic body the Bombay High Court has stayed the demolition of the structure.

The high court has sought a reply from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over Kangana's petition.

Kangana Ranaut meanwhile reached Mumbai from Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, to be booed and cheered by her opponents (slogan shouting Shiv Sena activists with black flags) and her supporters (identified as slogan shouting workers of  Karni Sena, RPI-A). She landed in Mumbai at around 2-30 pm on a flight from Chandigarh.

Workers of the RPI (A) and Karni Sena had also gathered in support of the actor. RPI (A) leader and Union minister Ramdas Athawale had declared that his party workers will protect Kangana while she is in Mumbai.

Amid the chaos, party workers pumped with adrenaline to greet Ranaut, gave social distancing a toss.

How it all started?

The fresh row was triggered after a team of BMC officials reached Mumbai's Pali Hill and demolished the alleged illegal structures in her office.

The BMC had served a notice to Kangana a couple of days ago and asked the actress to furnish the document granting permission to build the concerned structure in her office.

Hitting back at the BMC, Kangana tweeted earlier on Wednesday, "There is no illegal construction in my house, also government has banned any demolitions in Covid till September 30, Bullywood watch now this is what Fascism looks like."

The Queen actress also termed the civic officials as "Babur Army".

"I am never wrong and my enemies prove again and again this is why my Mumbai is POK [Pak Occupied Kashmir] now," she tweeted.

A Sushant death case connection?

The demolition act has been preceded by Kangana's criticism of Mumbai Police's handling of the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the powerful Bollywood clique which she alleged is controlling the film industry and promoting nepotism.

Locking horns with the ruling outfit, Kangana had stated she feared to live in Mumbai to only get attacked by Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut, who had said the actress must stay out of the state in that scenario.

Reactions:

BJP leader Priti Gandhi tweeted: "I am writing this tweet after the multiple frantic calls I have received from several absolutely apolitical people. Take it from me, the common Mumbaikar is extremely hurt by this blatantly revengeful action against Kangana Ranaut. They have taken it personally. #DeathOfDemocracy."
