Kanjhawala case: 11 Delhi policemen suspended
New Delhi: A total eleven policemen of Rohini district, who were deployed on route at Police Control Rooms and pickets where a girl died after her scooty was reportedly hit and her body dragged by a car for 12 kms on New Year, have been suspended, police said on Friday.
As approved by competent authority, a total 11 Policemen of Rohini district deployed on route at PCRs and pickets have been suspended in view of the Sultanpuri incident of January 1, police said.
Five personnel were posted on two pickets and six were on three PCRs. Two Sub-Inspectors, four Assistant Sub-Inspectors, four Head Constables and one Constable who have been suspended who were on duty at the time of the incident, police said.
The Ministry of Home Affairs recommended action against police personnel deployed in three PCRs and two police pickets, sources said.
The police had arrested five accused in the case on January 2. Later, they arrested two more people for allegedly concealing the actual facts. One of the accused has been released on bail.
In the incident, a 20-year-old girl died after her scooty was reportedly hit and her body dragged for 12 kms in Kanjhawala-Sultanpuri area on January 1.
