Kashmir: Police bust militant module, arrest 2 TRF militants, associates
Srinagar/UNI: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday busted a militant module after arresting two militants of The Resistance Front (TRF) and their two associates.
The police added that they have recovered four pistols and two silencers from the arrested militants.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) central Kashmir Sujit Kumar said that the militants were arrested during investigation into the killing of a civilian Rauf Ahmad in Srinagar.
Police said that on Dec 22 last year, militants killed Ahmad, a property dealer at Safakadal.
"During the course of investigation, movement of some suspects was detected in Srinagar city. Based on the further analysis and credible human intelligence, Srinagar police detected suspicious movement of terrorists in Baghat Barzulla area," he said.
On this, Srinagar Police along with CRPF laid special checkpoints and apprehended two terrorists of The Resistance Front (TRF).
Police have identified the arrested militants as Suhail Qadir Khanday of Tral in Pulwama and Suhail Mushtaq Waza of Nikloora Pulwam.
Police said that the arrested militants identified their two associates as Basit Bilal Makaya of Qamarabad Srinagar and Naikoo Imad Nisar of Kiloora Shopian. Police said that both Makaya and Naikoo have been arrested.
According to the police, the arrested militants told them that they were operating on the directions of Asif Maqbool Dar, a resident of Bemina, who is currently residing in Saudi Arabia and Sajad Gul, a resident of Parimpora in Srinagar, who is currently based in Pakistan.
Police said that the militants module had done recce of the National Investigation Office and Delhi Police Headquarters and shared the details with their handlers in Pakistan. They said that their handlers had shared with them the targets for the killings.
Police added that Khanday was working in Saudi Arabia and returned to the Valley in August last year, on the directions of Asif Maqbool.
