Kishtwar: Machail Yatra suspended at a time when J&K govt issues advisory
Jammu, Aug 3 (IBNS/UNI): At a time when security advisory has been issued by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, the Machail Yatra has been suspended, media reports said.
The Yatra started last week.
It has been suspended by the District Administration of Kishtwar.
A senior administrative official here said that Machail Yatra to Goddess Durga Shrine in Kishtwar district has been suspended.
A local resident told UNi the Machail yatra was stopped due to security advisory issued to Kishtwar District administration. "No yatra vehicle is being allowed from Kishtwar while chopper service has also been suspended due to security reasons," added the local resident.
Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday issued security advisory for Amarnath Yatris and tourists to curtail their stay in Kashmir valley.
Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible," said an order issued by Principal Secretary, Home Department Shaleen Kabra had said.
