Kolkata: Fire breaks out in Kolkata bank, no casualty reported
According to reports, the fire was first noticed at around 9:40 am. at the Camac Street branch of Syndicate Bank, which is located on the first floor of a multi-storey commercial-cum-residential building.
Altogether five fire engines fought for hours to bring the blaze under control.
The local police and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel also rushed to the scene.
"As the bank was closed that time, nobody was trapped inside it," a fire and emergency services official told IBNS.
"All residents of the building were evacuated unhurt," he said.
A local police official confirmed that no casualty was reported in the incident while several important documents and few computers o the bank were gutted due to the fire.
After preliminary investigations, fire officials said that short circuit was the likely cause of the fire.
The police and the fire department, have begun a probe to know the exact reason behind the fire.
