Kolkata flyover collapse : IVRCL Vice President arrested

Kolkata, Apr 6 (IBNS) A top notch official of IVRCL, the company which was building the Kolkata flyover that collapsed last week, was arrested by the police on Wednesday, reports said.

Ranjit Bhattacharya, the associate vice-president of the construction company, who remained in a hospital since the March 31 disaster, was  discharged on TuesdayOn Wednesday morning he was arrested and  taken to the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar.

Twenty-six people were killed and about 90 injured after a long stretch of the under-construction Vivekananday flyover suddently collapsed on March 31 afternoon.

So far, eight officers of IVRCL have been arrested under IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) and others.
On Monday, investigators had arrested Project Manager Tanmoy Sil and conducted a thorough search of IVRCL's Beadon Street office during which they seized several documents.
