Kolkata, Jun 15 (IBNS): Amid the huge carcass meat scandal in West Bengal, one of the most popular biryani outlets of Kolkata, Arsalan Restaurant and Caterer, faced backlash after a city woman alleged that she was served rotten food at the eatery.
Sarmistha Roy, a resident of Mukundapur area in the East Kolkata Township, on Thursday claimed that the restaurant had served her rotten kebabs.
Sharing her experience, Sarmistha Roy said, "Me with my four friends went to Arsalan restaurant's Ruby outlet at EM Bypass on Thursday evening and had ordered briyani and mutton tikka kebab."
"When we were trying the items, we discovered that the mutton tikka kebab was rotten and taste as well as smell of the food was unpleasant," Roy said.
Besides lodging a complaint with the Kasba Police Station, the woman informed the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) about the incident.
"I lodged a complaint at Kasba Police Station and submitted samples of the rotten food, which was served in the restaurant," the lady said.
Local police, however, have started investigation into the incident while the health and food safety department of KMC is also looking into the matter.
Officials of Arsalan Restaurant and Caterer, which runs eight branches in and around Kolkata, denied to comment on the issue.
