Madhya Pradesh: Congress seeks appointment with governor to form govt

Bhopal, Dec 11 (IBNS): Congress Madhya Pradesh chief Kamal Nath on Tuesday night sought an appointment with governor Anandiben Patel to form the government in the state.

Though the final results are yet to be out, the latest figures indicate that the Congress has emerged as the largest party despite the slim margin with the BJP, which came second.

"The Congress Party has emerged as the single largest party with majority support. All the independents have, in addition, assured support to the Congress Party," Nath informed the governor.

"As president of the Pradesh Congress Committee, I seek an appointment with Your Excellency tonight as soon as the results are declared along with my senior leaders to apprise you and seek your permission to form the government in the state of Madhya Pradesh," he said.

There has been a delay in the declaration of Madhya Pradesh results where the Congress and the BJP are neck to neck. While the Congress is leading in 113 seats, BJP is doing the same in 109 seats.
