Madhya Pradesh Vyapam Scam: CBI court sentences 30 convicts to 7 yrs jail, one awarded 10 yrs in police recruitment case

New Delhi/IBNS: A special CBI court on Monday handed over seven years jail to 30 convicts, and 10 years imprisonment to one in the Vyapam recruitment and admission scam of Madhya Pradesh.

Pradip Tyagi, a resident of Gwalior, who is accused of rigging other exams, was sentenced to 10 years of jail, by the special court.

On Thursday, the special court convicted 31 guilty of a number of offences, including cheating by impersonation, cheating and forgery in connection with 2013 police Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board's (MPPEB) constable exam also known by its Hindi acronym Vyapam (Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal)," media reports said.

The 31 guilty include 12 imposters, seven middlemen CBI special prosecutor Satish Dinkar, the reports added.

The prosecution brought charges against the convicts on Sections 419, 420, 467, 468 and 471, Dinkar said.

The scam infested police constable recruitment test was carried out in 2013 by MP Professional Examination Board . Soon, allegations surfaced that imposters and middlemen had together swindled huge sums of money from the candidates.
