Bahraich/UNI: Following the death of wanted miscreant Panne Yadav in a joint encounter by the police and STF, the District Magistrate has ordered a magisterial probe into the matter here, police sources said on Wednesday.

The probe has been initiated after a letter by the Superintendent of Police. Naming the SDM Mahsi as the Investigating Officer, a report has been sought in 15 days.

As per sources here, Panne Lal Yadav, a resident of Gram Manaitapur in Gorakhpur's Gulariha, was a notorious criminal and had been absconding since many years. He also had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head.

He had been living in the Hardi area of Mahsi Tehsil in Bahraich. He had sustained a bullet injury in an encounter with a joint team of the police and STF Lucknow on the morning of July 10.
