Palghar/UNI:  An 18-year-old college student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Vasai town of this district, police said here on Wednesday.

According to reports, the boy ended his life on February 21 as he was under depression following digital bullying by his friends.

The deceased was concerned as his friends in the WhatsApp group blocked him frequently.

Talking to UNI, Tulinj Police Station Inspector Datta Patil stated, "As of now, the police have not received any complaint from parents of the deceased."

"The police also verified the bullying claims with other boys and did not find any such thing in the case," he told, adding that this seems to be a simple case of suicide.

A police case of accidental death have been registered.
