Maharashtra ranks top in foreign investments: Fadnavis
Pune, Sep 15 (IBNS): Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday claimed that Maharashtra has become the number one state to attract a major chunk of foreign investments coming to the country and that, in turn, helped generate employment for the youths.
Addressing a news conference here before the start of the third phase of his "Janadesh Yatra" from Pune to highlight achievements of the BJP-led state government in the last five years and also to garner support from the people, he said the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented various schemes for poor, women and farmers and noted that Maharashtra has been leading in development in the last five years as compared to other states in the country.
He further said that the rate of conversion of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) into actual investments in Maharashtra was 65 per cent compared to other states and claimed that the BJP-led state government has started many projects which were kept on hold by the previous government.
"We have even revived many projects which were closed for many years," the Chief Minister said.
Talking about the alliance with their partner Shiv Sena for coming state assembly polls, Fadnavis said that they would sit together and sort out the issues very soon.
He criticised NCP, whose workers attempted to block the roadshow at Baramati on Saturday and said in a democratic country, every party has the right to hold a rally anywhere.
Article 370 was not in force in Baramati which can prevent BJP from organising the rally, said Fadnavis.
He added that the entry of MP Udayanraje Bhosale into BJP would definitely strengthen the party.
The Maha Janadesh Yatra entered Pune city on Saturday evening and it held the roadshow in Pune city starting from Hadapsar assembly segment and then passed through Pune Cantonment, Parvati, Kasba Peth, Kothrud, Shivajinagar, Vadgaonsheri and Khadwasala in the morning. It has now left for Satara, Sangli and Konkan.
In a show of strength, the BJP leaders, who are aspiring for a party ticket, had put up the hoardings across the city to welcome the Chief Minister and to express their support to Fadnavis.
Fadnavis, who launched the roadshow in July, intends to cover almost all 288 assembly segments in the state. Last month, he had to suspend the yatra due to the floods in parts of the state.
