Maharashtra: Watchman gets 7 year RI for sodomising minor

Thane, May 20 (UNI) A local court has awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment to a 34-year-old watchman of a housing complex at Mira Road of the district, on charge of sodomising a minor.

According to the prosecution, the accused sodomised the ten-year-old boy living with his parents in a housing society in Mira Road area here, after calling him to his security cabin in the building.

The accused was arrested after a complaint was filed by the victim's father.

The district judge H M Patwardhan, on May 15,2019 found the accused Sunil Sahil Ramprakash Upadhyay, guilty of the charges under section 377 of the IPC and also of the POCSO Act and convicted under the POCSO Act only.
