Kolkata, Feb 7 (IBNS) : Barely two days after her dharna against the Centre, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday appeared in another avatar- this time as an administrator and a statesman playing at the national level - pitching for drawing investments in the state and the country  as she urged industrialists who have left India to come back and invest.

Speaking at the 5th edition of Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) in Kolkata, she said a new government at the Centre after Lok Sabha polls will adopt industry-friendly policies.

“I want to tell all my industrialists who have left the country to come back. Return to the country and invest. I know you have faced difficulties. But after elections, there will be a new government which will have new policies to suit you," she said.

The summit hosts  dozens of diplomats and business bigwigs

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and other industry bigwigs were present at the summit when she made the statement.

Banerjee said she wants the country to grow and its economy to thrive.  “We want the country to grow and for that, we should talk less and work more,” she added.

Mukesh Ambani announced that Reliance Industries would invest Rs 10,000 crore more in West Bengal in future and would expand Jio’s 4G network.

"West Bengal's rise is good news for Eastern India," Ambani says. "Reliance will be an unflinching partner of Bengal," he added

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee said in a tweet, "I welcome all industry leaders, entrepreneurs and country representatives to @bengalsummit. 36 foreign delegations are attending #BGBS2019. This will be one of the biggest summits ever to draw investments in #Bengal #BengalMeansBusiness."
