Mamata Banerjee has all traits to become good PM: Yashwant Sinha

| @indiablooms | Dec 10, 2018, at 12:17 pm

Kolkata, Dec 10 (IBNS): Ahead of a crucial Opposition meet in New Delhi, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha on Sunday said West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has all traits to become the country's Prime Minister.

Sinha, who is much vocal against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government at the Centre, made the comment while participating at talk show 'Idea of Bengal' organised by the TMC.

He also said he hopes West Bengal and the TMC would play a major role in the 2019 General Elections.

Mamata had met several opposition leaders both in New Delhi and Kolkata to strike an alliance at the national level.

The former BJP leader also accused the central government of destroying various institutions of the country.

Sinha, who was the Union Finance Minister in Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government, attacked the BJP government for undermining Rajya Sabha, the lower house of the parliament, while passing the bills.

He also said the biggest "casualty" in the BJP regime is the cabinet which, Sinha alleged, was kept in the dark while taking important decisions like demonetisation and Rafale deal.

On Monday, several opposition leaders including Congress president Rahul Gandhi would meet to discuss the 2019 General Elections.

Several Chief Ministers- N Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh, Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi and Mamata- will be present at the meeting.

The meeting has assumed significance as the results of five assembly elections are due to come out on Tuesday.

According to the exit polls, the ruling BJP is expected to get a hit in three states, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
