Hapur(UP): In a shocking incident a 35-year-old man was allegedly tortured to death by a group of policemen at Hapur police station, one of them a DSP, while his son was made to wait outside as the assault was carried on, media reports said.

The 10-year-old son of security guard Pradeep Tomar related the horrific account to the family, after which the incident came to light.

According to the boy, Tomar was picked up for questioning on the night of Oct 13 but was tortured for more than five hours in the police station.

The policemen abused him, stabbed him with screwdrivers and gave him electric shocks, NDTV reported.

During the assault, the policemen were drinking alcohol but denied water to his father, the boy said.

He said the policemen gave him a packet of chips when he started crying, however, when he didn't stop, one of the policemen shoved the barrel of a revolver into his mouth, the NDTV report said.

The man allegedly succumbed to the torture on the following day.

Allegedly, a powerful politician of the area tried to broker an agreement between the accused policemen and the victim's family for an amount of Rs 25 lakhs.

An FIR was registered in the case, however, no one has been arrested even as 24 hours have passed.

The incident has triggered massive outrage, with apprehensions rising that the victim may be deprived of justice as the case is likely to be investigated by a sub-inspector, the report added.
