Man who had pointed gun at policeman in Delhi arrested

New Delhi/IBNS: The man who had pointed a gun at an unarmed policeman during the deadly violence in the national capital has been arrested, media reports said.

He has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh.

The man was identified as Shahrukh, a 33-year old resident of Delhi's Seelampur.

The violence, which broke out between the supporters and protestors of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), has claimed 46 lives and left over 300 injured.

The suspect was arrested last week but police had clarified that he had nothing to do with the shooting, NDTV reported.

The CAA aims to grant citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Parsi, Jain but not Muslim refugees who came to India from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh due to religious persecution before 2015.
